PARENT / GUARDIAN AGREEMENT, ASSUMPTION OF RISK, MEDICAL AUTHORIZATION, AND LEGAL TERMS (CALIFORNIA)
This Agreement is entered into by the undersigned parent or legal guardian (“Parent/Guardian”) on behalf of the minor participant (“Child”) in connection with participation in the Camp Program 2026 by KARAGOD (“Program”).
ASSUMPTION OF RISK
I understand and acknowledge that participation in the Program involves inherent and unavoidable risks, including but not limited to physical injury, illness, emotional distress, property loss, or, in rare cases, death. Such risks may arise from, without limitation: physical and recreational activities; weather conditions and temperature; terrain, facilities, and equipment; transportation to and from activities (if applicable); actions or omissions of other participants, staff, or third parties; dehydration, fatigue, or pre-existing medical conditions.
I knowingly and voluntarily assume all such risks, both known and unknown, on behalf of my Child.
MEDICAL AUTORIZATION
I authorize KARAGOD and its representatives to obtain emergency medical evaluation and treatment for my Child if I cannot be reached. I understand that KARAGOD staff are not medical professionals and may not administer medication unless expressly arranged in advance.
I agree that I am solely responsible for all medical expenses incurred.
LEGAL AGREEMENT
RELEASE OF LIABILITY (California-Limited)
To the fullest extent permitted under California law, I hereby release and discharge KARAGOD, its organizers, directors, officers, employees, volunteers, agents, and representatives (collectively, “Released Parties”) from liability for injuries, losses, or damages arising from the inherent risks of the Program.
I understand and acknowledge that California law does not permit a parent or guardian to waive a minor’s future claims for ordinary negligence, and nothing in this Agreement is intended or construed to do so.
PARENT / GUARDIAN INDEMNIFICATION
I agree to INDEMNIFY, DEFEND, AND HOLD HARMLESS the Released Parties from and against any and all claims, demands, causes of action, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of or related to: (a) my Child’s participation in the Program; (b) my Child’s acts or omissions; or (c) any breach of this Agreement by me or my Child.
This indemnification obligation applies even if a claim is asserted by or on behalf of my Child.
CODE OF CONDUCT & DISMISSAL POLICY
I understand that participation in the Program requires safe, respectful, and appropriate behavior. Bullying, harassment, violence, or other unsafe conduct is prohibited.
I acknowledge that KARAGOD may require immediate pickup of my Child if necessary for safety or program integrity, and that no refunds will be issued for dismissal due to behavioral issues.
PHOTO / MEDIA RELEASE
I grant permission for my Child to be photographed, recorded, or otherwise captured in audio or visual media during the Program and authorize KARAGOD to use such media for legitimate educational, promotional, or informational purposes, without compensation.
GOVERNING LAW
This Agreement shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles.
VENUE
Any legal action or proceeding arising out of or relating to this Agreement or the Program shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located within the State of California, and the parties consent to the personal jurisdiction of such courts.
ACKNOWLEDGMENT & SIGNATURE
I certify that I am the Parent or legal guardian of the Child identified below, that I have carefully read and fully understand this Agreement, and that I voluntarily agree to its terms. I understand that this document is a legally binding contract.
